Fiat brings back the Tipo. First, as a compact sedan

Fiat has just released an old name for a new face. Presented at the 2015 Istambul Auto Show, last May, the Aegea concept has become the new Tipo for most of the 40 countries in which it will be sold, apart from Turkey, where it will be produced. The Portuguese website Auto Monitor has stated, according to its sources, that the car will also be assembled in India and Brazil.

Since this car will also have hatchback and station wagon versions as well, we are curious to see how these future versions will be called. The sedan version of the Tipo was the Tempra. Perhaps adding letters to the name, such as Tipo HB, for hatchback, or Tipo SW, for the station wagon, but this is just a guess.

Most of the technical specifications of this car were already known. It will be 4.50 m long, 1.48 m tall and 1.78 m wide, with a wheelbase of 2.64 m. Its luggage compartment will be able to carry 510 l and, according to this image below, engines have already been defined.

The entry level version of the car will be equiped with a 1.4 Fire petrol engine or with a 1.3 MultiJet diesel engine, both able to generate 71 kW. This last one will be offered both in Euro 5 and Euro 6 configurations. The 1.6 MultiJet, on the other hand, will be only available in Euro 6 specifications, both with a 6 speed manual gearbox or with a 6 speed double clutch automated transmission. It produces 89 kW. The biggest petrol engine will be the 1.6 E.torQ, producing 82 kW and solely offered with a 6 speed automatic transmission.
