Fiat will present today the new Fiat Toro. Follow the presentation on Periscope with us!

The presentation of the new Fiat Toro will finally happen today. The second “mid-compact” pick-up of the Brazilian market will have a major event to mark the start of its sales and promises not to leave the Renault Duster Oroch have any sort of peace in the segment it has inaugurated. Most magazines have already stamped it on their covers and evaluated the unibody truck, but its prices are still a mystery to be unveiled later today. MotorChase will be there to follow all steps of the car presentation and will also evaluate the vehicle tomorrow. This article aims to invite you to follow the event at Periscope (look for MotorChase at the app) and also to know what is no secret anymore about the Toro.

Fiat’s new pick-up is 4.92 m long, 1.84 m wide, 1.74 m tall and it has a wheelbase of 2.99 m. It is built over the SUSW platform, the same one used by the Jeep Renegade and the Fiat 500X. Toro is built alongside Renegade at the Goiana plant, in the Brazilian State of Pernambuco. When equipped with the 2.0 MultiJet turbodiesel engine, which produces 125 kW at 3,750 rpm and 350 Nm at 1,750 rpm, it comes with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and with four-wheel drive. Flex fuel options will also be available, with a 1.8 4-cylinder able to deliver 102 kW. With this engine, Toro is front-wheel drive. Exactly the same powertrains used by the Renegade. Its fuel tank carries 60 liters of diesel and its bed is able to carry 1 ton of cargo or 820 l (1,225 l with an extensor).

In what relates to brakes and suspension, it uses disk brakes in all four wheels, a McPherson arrangement in front and a multilink at the back. Top speed is 188 km/h. One curious feature of the pick-up is the divided bed gate. The new Toro weighs 1,672 kg.

If you think this is a regional presentation, beware. RAM will also have its version of Toro. It will be called Rampage and, apart from its appearance, which is likely to change a little, especially in the front end, technical specifications tend to be exactly the same.

As soon as prices and trim levels are released we will bring them to you. As well as the event itself. Remember to look for MotorChase on Periscope and come with us! In case you do not have Periscope, but still want to follow the presentation, acess the Live Toro website after 20h (UTC -3).
