… and AutoExpress shows the Peugeot 208 to be

If you have not seen what the Peugeot 208 was supposed to be when development started, you should check L’Argus. But you may be more interested in what it will become and, for that, AutoExpress has a better answer. This is, according to the British magazine, the second generation 208, a bigger and lighter B-segment hatchback.

The new 208 will be the first car from PSA to bring the new modular platform EMP1, slated for B-segment vehicles, such as the Citroën C3, the DS 3 and the 2008. Curiously, the next generation C3, slated for presentation at this year’s Paris Motor Show, will still be made over the PF1 platform. We understand that the EMP1 is still not ready, but find it very strange, considering the EMP2 is around since 2013. And they should share some components.

The new car is expected to make its official presentation at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show and it should be bigger and more luxurious than the C3, while not as luxurious as the DS 3. Its engines and transmissions should be about the same, with the 1.2 PureTech in normally aspirated and turbocharged versions and a revamped 1.6 THP. The only difference that is expected is on the diesel range, which will trade the 1.6 BlueHDI for a 1.5 BlueHDI, preserving the outputs.
