Volvo teases the future XC40. Or is it the new V40? Or both?

Volvo has recently shown the restyled V40, with its Thor hammer incorporated to the headlights. But it has also teased a new “concept car” that is said to be or the new V40 or the new XC40, the crossover version of the C-segment hatchback. It will be the first vehicle to be underpinned by the new CMA platform, even if we suspect that it is already being used by the Geely Emgrand GS.

We believe it is the new XC40 due to a couple of factors. The first one has already been mentioned: the restyled V40 has appeared little ago. Besides that, the XC40 tends to be a very different vehicle when compared to the future generation of the hatchback, unlike the V40 CC.

The engines for the XC40 will be the 4-cylinder and the brand new 3-cylinder Drive-E Volvo is developing. The car will probably have a hybrid version and even a full electric one. The C-segment crossover is expected to be the best-selling product from Volvo when it goes on sale next year. An official presentation of the production version at the Paris Motor Show is not unlikely.
