The car you see in these pictures and in the video below has been filmed in Nürburgring Nordschleife by the Youtube channel CVDZIJDEN. Besides them, the main car secret photographers in the world have also registered the tests. And they have unanimously considered it to be the Ford Focus RS500. Mainly because of the air vents on the hood, as well as the different aerodynamic elements. This is a car that was already expected to show up and that seems to be finally in preparation. Check it in action below before we unload the info we have on it so far.
The new Focus RS500 will be a limited edition of the Focus RS. Which is already the bearer of the title “the hot hatchback to beat”. All that Ford has released about it so far is the engine, a 2.3 4-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost that delivers 257 kW at 6,000 rpm and 440 Nm at 3,200 rpm. We are amazed at how Ford seems not to care anymore for detailed technical specifications, as it has shown with the Ford GT.
The rest of the data had to be extracted from magazines that have already driven it. The RS is 4.39 m long, 1.82 m wide, 1.47 m tall and has a wheelbase of 2.65 m. These measures should be shared with the RS500. The weight, on the other hand, should drop well below the 1.569 kg of the RS.
The previous Focus RS500
In the past, the Focus RS500 was a special edition with less weight, bigger brakes, stiffer suspension and track-oriented. The “500” in the name came from the number of units built. But what if it also means the car will have 500 ps, or 368 kW?
That surely would be a desirable feature, but some magazines say there is no way to extract more power from the 2.3 EcoBoost engine. That may mean a bigger engine, if the 500 ps are to become a real target. And we hope it does. That would be a good way for Ford to try to beat Volkswagen as the reference in hot hatchbacks.
