CONFIRMED! – Opel GT will appear as a concept at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show

If you are a regular MotorChase reader, this news will not surprise you. In case you aren’t, now you can become one by knowing you could be aware of the new Opel GT well before it had an official confirmation. And here it is.

In this video, you receive an invitation from Opel CEO, Karl-Thomas Neumann, to “take a look at” the brand “with a fresh pair of eyes. And the promise that more is going to appear within a week, or in January 21, 2016. The video confirms Opel will have a new GT, which will be presented as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show.

But it says more than that: pay attention to the logo of the new car. In a first glimpse, you may think you are looking at the car’s headlights. And we really believe the car will have headlights that refer to its name, possibly with the exact same shape we see as the logo. Confirmation will not take long.

As far as we know, the new Opel GT will be a 2+2 sports car, probably inspired by the Monza Concept and slated for production sometime in 2018. It will have a price tag of around 25,000 euros, or a little more than US$27,000. It will be powered by a variety of four-cylinder turbo petrol engines, with the most powerful one able to reach 221 kW. We’ve already said we can’t wait to see the Geneva Motor Show. But we’ll say that again in order for time to move faster!
