DS reveals the E-Tense, its electric coupé with 300 kW

DS has presented today its future electric coupé, the E-Tense, its main attraction for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The concept comes as a statement that the new brand can perfectly stand on its own, without the help of its former mother brand, Citroën. And we can say it stands alone very well, if the E-Tense is to be considered as an example.

The E-Tense is equipped with 53 kWh lithium-ion batteries, a 300 kW Siemens electric engine (not this one) and 517 Nm.

It is a 4.72 m long and 1.29 m high two-seater with a range of 310 km. If you only drive it in the city, its range increases to 360 miles.

According to DS, it has spend 800 hours to develop the car’s interior. The company has worked with luxury brands in order to have a 9-speaker sound system, from Focal, a console mounted clock that can be taken out of the car and worn, from BRM Chronographes, and a helmet harness, from Moynat. It is not very clear why would someone driving the E-Tense wear a helmet harness, but it may have to do with the fact that the car is inspired on DS’s Formula E car.
