The Spyder version of the second generation Audi R8 has finally arrived. The R8 Spyder V10 has been revealed at the New York Auto Show with its new appearance and the impressive performance it has always presented. The new Spyder is no exception.
The car is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2 V10 that produces 397 kW at 7,800 rpm and 540 Nm at 6,500 rpm. With a dry weight of 1,612 kg, the car is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 s and to reach a top speed, with no electronic limitations, of 318 km/h. Its all-wheel drive system is able to distribute up to 100% to the front or rear axle depending on the dynamic needs.
The R8 Spyder V10 is 4.43 m long, 1.94 m wide, 1.25 m tall and has a wheelbase of 2.65 m.
The electro-hydraulic mechanism of the cloth hood takes 20 s to operate, at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Its aluminum structure accounts for 79.6% of the car weight, with a body that weighs only 208 kg. In what relates to fuel consumption, the least worry of any R8 owner, the new car consumes 11.7 l/100 km, emitting 277 g/CO2 per km.
Audi has not stated when sales will begin, but we expect them to be immediate. After all, the car is ready.
