The new Audi Q2 shows the scale power of the MQB platform

Audi has presented today its new B segment SUV, the Q2. And it has managed to show it with no leaks or spy pictures, what would make it become a huge presentation. But there has not been much talk about the model. Possibly because it is the entry-level SUV for the German carmaker. It could also be due to the fact it has a polarizing design, another way to say it has too many creases. Almost like one of those new Toyota models, only in square fashion. But it clearly shows the MQB platform has an incredible scale power. And the Volkswagen group is starting to benefit from it.

The new Q2 is 4.19 m long, 1.79 m wide, 1.51 m tall and has a wheelbase of 2.60 m. Its luggage compartment carries 405 l and, with seats folded, capacity rises to up to 1,050 l. It is the same car Volkswagen will sell as the Polo SUV, as some have named it, but with a different appearance. The concept T-Cross Breeze has anticipated the future Volkswagen looks, while the Q2 has shown its possible measures (the wheelbase will be the same, we bet) and its engine line-up.

Its base engine will be the 1.0 EA211 3-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 85 kW.  The other end of the engine line will be the 2.0 TFSI 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which delivers 140 kW. Among them there will be a 1.4 TFSI petrol engine and two turbodiesel options, a 1.6 and a 2.0 TDI units. Audi has not released their outputs. Transmissions will be a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed double-clutch automated S-Tronic gearbox. Front-wheel drive will be standard, as in all MQB vehicles, with the option of all-wheel drive, quattro, in higher trims.

Audi will start to take orders for its B segment SUV in the middle of the year. Deliveries are expected to begin by September. Check below for more pictures of the car.
