Renault is really investing on the SUV segment. After the Captur and the Kadjar, it is about to present the new Koleos. The car was supposed to be named Maxthon, but this has not been confirmed. The new Koleos is bigger than its predecessor and will put Renault in the D segment SUV market. Check below the new video Renault has released, pointing to the official presentation date: April 25, 2016.
The new SUV will be built over the CMF-C/D platform, the same one that serves the Mégane and Talisman. The engines have not been revealed so far, but there is no reason for us to expect a different offer than the one the Talisman has: 3 turbodiesel options, variants of the 1.5 dCi engine, and 2 petrol units, based on a 1.6 TCe engine. The turbodiesels are named ENERGY dCi 110 (81 kW and 260 Nm), ENERGY dCi 130 (96 kW and 320 Nm) and ENERGY dCi 160 EDC (118 kW and 380 Nm). The petrol options are the ENERGY TCe 150 EDC (110 kW and 220 Nm) and the ENERGY TCe 200 EDC (147 kW and 260 Nm). All models that have the EDC name use a double-clutch automated transmission. The petrol engine transmission is a 7-speed, while the turbodiesels use a 6-speed unit. The entry-level turbodiesel engines also have a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Let’s see if the same applies to the future Koleos.
