Donkervoort has recently released information on the D8 GTO-S, but the Dutch carmaker has promise two other new cars for 2016. And the second of these new products will be the D8 GTO-RS, considered as the lightest and fastest GTO ever build by Donkervoort.
The D8 GTO-RS shares its measures with the GTO-S: it is a 2-seater that is 3.74 m long, 1.85 m wide, 1.14 m tall and that has a wheelbase of 2.35 m. Its trunk has a 240 l of luggage space and the car is powered by a 2.5 5-cylinder engine supplied by Audi. Donkervoort has not stated how powerful the new car will be, nor how light it is, but we can expect it to be under 730 kg and to offer more than 265 kW. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h should come under the 3 s. These are the figures of the D8 GTO-S.
The new D8 GTO-RS has large shoes to fit. Its predecessors have broken Nürburgring Nordschleife records in 2004 and 2006. It has a new suspension, what gives it a wider track width, a revamped braking system and a carbon fiber tunnel section for less weight. Bosch has helped Donkervoort on the EA885 5-cylinder engine management. According to the Dutch company, this has provided better acceleration. Bosch has also created a launch control system and a double-clutch function.
Only 40 of these babies will be produced and 21 have already been sold at the cost of € 151,173 (no taxes included). The car will be introduced in the middle of 2016. We hope Donkervoort will have the full specs to send us by then.
