Pininfarina may produce an electric sport car. Maybe inspired by the H2 Speed Concept

After presenting a fuel cell racing car, the H2 Speed Concept, Pininfarina is set to develop a new sports car. An electric one, according to the British magazine Autocar. And the move would have an explanation on Mahindra’s involvement with Formula E. Mahindra has bought Pininfarina at the end of last year. One source of inspiration for the new electric sports car can be the concept presented at the Geneva Motor Show.

The information about the upcoming car emerged in a conversation Autocar had with Pravin Shah, Mahindra automotive boss. The new car would not be a way to showcase Pininfarina’s design, since it does not need to prove anything to anyone anymore, but to reinforce the Tech Mahindra business arm of the company, making Mahindra stand out of the competition. It is not clear whether the electric sports car would be badged Mahindra or Pininfarina, but naming it solely as Pininfarina would imply a new car brand creation. And it would appeal to wealthy buyers of sports cars. Will that be the case? Will a Mahindra by Pininfarina emerge? Will it be something entirely new? We’ll answer in the due time, as soon as more information emerges on this new electric sports car.
