Will the Newey-Reichman Aston Martin hypercar have anything to do with the DP-100?

When an experienced F1 designer teams up with a car manufacturer, the result can be as astonishing as the McLaren F1, a brainchild of Gordon Murray. And we have already told you that Adrian Newey, possibly the most successful F1 designer, has joined forces with Red Bull and Aston Martin to create a new hypercar. Its codename is AM RB 001, but we have already named it Newey-Reichman Aston Martin hypercar. Marek Reichman is the chief designer of Aston Martin and father of beauties such as the DB11 and the Vanquish Zagato. And the promise is that it will also make our jaws drop, but CarBuzz has delivered more information on it and even made renderings that point the car could be very similar to the DP-100 Vision Grand Turismo Concept.

The rendering would even fit the only official image of the Newey-Reichman car released so far. The one below.

According to CarBuzz, one of their readers has already placed an order for the Newey-Reichman hypercar, which will be officially presented next summer (winter in the Southern hemisphere). This customer would have paid £ 2.2 million and only other 98 clients would have the same “privilege”. These clients have already seen official renderings and a clay model of the new hypercar.

There is no info on the engine it will use, but it would be a high-revving, high output unit placed in a car that will weight less than 1,000 kg, in a body smaller than the one used by the McLaren P1. It is said to have a better power-to-weight ration than the Koenigsegg One:1. It will probably not be hybrid, as the Ferrari LaFerrari, the Porsche 918 Spyder or the P1. Its main advantage will be cutting-edge aerodynamic features, all of them taken from Newey’s experience in F1.

Andy Palmer, Aston Martin’s CEO, has promised a car that will be able to lap any race track as fast as an F1 or an LMP1 prototype. We hope that is true. And that the new hypercar looks as good as the DP-100, even if it is a little different from it.
