It was not only Bugatti that seized the 24 Hours of Le Mans to show their products. Ford has also done so with the production version of the Ford GT. The car was put in the same parade the Chiron appeared, but leading a platoon of Ford GT40 and GT. The car was driven by Raj Nair, Ford’s Chief Technical Officer. Check the video below.
Although the car was there, and won its class at the mythical race, Ford has failed us again in providing the technical specifications of the car. All we know about it is that it is powered by a 3.5 V6 EcoBoost engine with around 450 kW (more than 600 hp). And that it will use a 7-speed semi-automatic gearbox.
Deliveries by the end of 2016
We will probably get more info on the car when it is delivered to its first customer. It will happen by the end of this year. The “lucky customer” is one of the selected few that will have the right to buy the first 500 units. Sold at US$ 400,000 each.
Ford had to turn down 6,006 people interested in the car in this first batch of applications. The next one will be for the cars from 2018 on. More specifically the 500 left of the 1,000 units limited production. We hope to have the full specification of the Ford GT until then…
