This is the 4th generation Kia Rio

We are now 28 days away from the 2016 edition of the Paris Motor Show, but Kia decided it was the best time for it to unveil its main attraction there. After revealing sketches of its new B-segment hatchback, the company has released the official pictures of the new Rio. And also some very interesting information.

The 4th generation Kia Rio is 4.07 m long, 1.73 m wide, 1.45 m high and has a wheelbase of 2.58 m. These official numbers confirm that it is very close to the new Hyundai i20 in dimensions, as we have foreseen, with only very little differences. This is because both cars share the new GB platform, as we have informed before.

There is still nothing on the engines, but we bet it will use the same ones already offered by the i20, such as the 1.0 3-cylinder turbocharged unit, the 1.4 4-cylinder and a 1.6 GDI for the Kia Rio GT.

The driver oriented interior features straight lines that give the impression of a much wider cabin. As in most modern cars, Kia highlights its new infotainment system, with a floating touchscreen that has allowed Kia to create a much cleaner interior, with less buttons on the center console. The seats can be covered in black or grey upholstery and black, grey or red artificial leather.

With its production for Europe starting by the end of 2016, the new Kia Rio will also be produced in South Korea, for the local market and for exports, and in Mexico, to supply the USA, Canada and other important Latin America markets such as Brazil.
