Spanish website km77 reports the Jeep Renegade may have serious braking issues
The Jeep Renegade is currently the best selling model of the brand. It has been considered as one of the safest small cars for sale in Latin America by Latin NCAP. And all seemed to go well with it until the Spanish website km77.com reported a very serious problem in its braking system. Under hard braking above 100 km/h, the rear of the car went airborne. Luckily not enough to make the Renegade rollover, but in a very scary way. Pablo David González was driving it and was told by FCA that specific unit had a problem. And he believed it until he tested another version of the Renegade. With the same problems. Check the video below.
The matter came to the attention of the Jalopnik writers. And Andrew P. Collins had no problem finding another example, now in Italy, of the same problem. Check it below. If you want to speed things up, go straight ahead to 9:30.
It is pretty evident this is not a single unit problem. All the Renegade units shown in these videos are produced in Mirafiori, so the matter can affect solely the vehicles produced there, but what if this is a project problem? Could it also affect the Renegade units produced in Goiana, Brazil?
In our test drive with it, we have experienced different problems, but we have not braked it hard not even once. We will check that with FCA as soon as possible. In the meantime, please tell us if you have experienced anything similar at the wheel of a Renegade in the comments box.
