The Ferrari California T is the cheapest model available from the Cavallino brand, but it was ageing fast. This is probably why the Italian brand has decided to seize the Frankfurt Motor Show to present its replacement in 2017. The new retractable hard top model is called Portofino and brings lots of enhancements to the table. Especially more power from the 3.9 turbo V8, which now produces 441 kW (600 cv) at 7,500 rpm.
The Ferrari Portofino is 4.59 m long, 1.94 m wide, 1.32 m tall and its wheelbase has not been disclosed so far. According to Ferrari, it reaches a top speed of 320 km/h and is able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 s. Among standard equipment you will find an electronic rear differential called E-Diff3. It is integrated to F1-Trac and it probably performs torque vectoring, among other amazing tricks to keep the car where the driver wants it to be. Especially on track.
Another interesting feature of the new Ferrari Portofino is the use of electric power steering (EPS). The company says it was able to reduce the steering ratio in 7% to make steering more direct with no harm to stability or feeedback. This is something we will surely see addressed in the first reviews of the car. Will the Portofino be the new benchmark for car with EPS?
Other features Ferrari points out on the Portofino are the full-LED headlights and the 10.2″ infotainment system. There is no word on when the new GT will get to dealerships, but Ferrari is currently facing long lines for their cars, so it will not be very soon…
